Numbers of seats
The Sistina Theater is a theater located in Rome in via Sistina, directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo. Inaugurated on 28 December 1949 as a cinema-theater and designed by the architect Marcello Piacentini, it is characterized by a hall (28 meters wide and 30 deep) without columns and other structures, which allow the public to view any order of seats.
In recent years the Sistina has confirmed to be one of the major production theaters in Italy. Among the most guessed definitions that he has collected over the years and which are now part of the common feeling, both “Roman theater” and “the scale of the Italian musical comedy” deserve a mention, and this thanks to the affection of the public who, day after day, year after year, it has crowded – and continues to crowd – the approximately 1600 seats in the hall.
